Planned Parenthood has been in the news a lot lately – and it’s about time. They have been shown in undercover videos to not only agree with the murder of innocent preborn children, but to actually profit from those abortions by trafficking in the body parts of those aborted children. What do you actually know about this organization?
It’s History
Planned Parenthood was founded by Margaret Sanger. In 1921, Sanger founded the American Birth Control League which, in 1942, changed its name to the Planned Parenthood Association of America. Sanger adhered to the naturalistic tenet that problems in the evolutionary development of human life are responsible for many of the problems of society. Her solution was to promote birth control – particularly the kind that would stop bad traits from being passed on into the gene pool. She was a believer in eugenics (using controlled breeding to increase the occurrence of desirable heritable characteristics in a population). She even went so far as to promote the sterilization of those who were “unfit.” This included people who might have genes which could cause various handicaps, and even the black race that she considered inferior.
What They Do
Planned Parenthood touts that their primary focus is health screening. But that is not all they do. As it turns out, Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion provider in America. The brutal truth is, they are responsible for the murder of over 300,000 preborn babies every year.
Their Defenders
Whenever someone who claims be a Christian is accused of any kind of wrongdoing, that person is beat down mercilessly until they recant and crawl into a hole. But what happens when the gross wrongdoing of a non-Christian practice is exposed? Well, its defenders double down. In the current, and ongoing, scandal in which Planned Parenthood has been shown to not only slaughter innocent life but to traffic in baby body parts, what do Planned Parenthood’s defenders say?

Why Such a Spirited Defense?
As you can see from these quotes, the defenders of Planned Parenthood use all kinds of arguments to support their cause. Those arguments include:
* Planned Parenthood helps women.
* There is absolutely nothing wrong with abortion.
* The decision to abort is a women’s health decision.
* Planned Parenthood is a victim and the ones who made the videos need to be prosecuted.
* The videos are edited and not true.
* Planned Parenthood has done nothing wrong.
But the truth is, none of these defenses, as wrong as they all are, state specifically the real reason why the defenders are fighting so hard. The reason is, abortion is the most important symbol of those who want to live life by a standard which allows them to create their own morality. They want to be able to have sexual relations with anyone they wish without there being any consequences or any accountability to God.
In fact, the real issue is not about abortion at all. It is about a religious faith in which God is denied. It is about a religious faith which allows the individual to be his or her own god. And as long as pop culture is willing to bow at the feet of the God of Naturalism, we will continue to see the kinds of horrible deeds, and defense of those deeds, that we are now witnessing.
In the end, the only way to change this is to create a change in hearts and minds. And the only people capable of promoting this kind of change are Christians who are willing to stand up and be counted. That means believers need to get up to speed on the true beliefs of their own faith and expose the silly and evil defenses of abortion for what they truly are. Nothing will change until that happens.
